AMELIA'S STORY
My Musical Journey
I've always loved making music. My formal training began at age 7 with piano lessons and choir. Soon after, I jumped into every artistic experience I could- dance classes, violin, drawing lessons, acting classes, and any opportunity for singing. Vocal music became my greatest love, as I took private lessons, performed in school shows, joined every ensemble, auditioned and competed. I couldn't get enough!

By the time college rolled around I knew I wanted a musical career, so I pursued Choral Music Education at the University of Kentucky. At UK I continued my classical vocal studies with Dr. Elizabeth Arnold, and participated in their fantastic choirs, Choristers, Women's Choir, and Chorale. Within these choirs, I joined and directed their pop acapella groups, BlueNote and Paws&Listen, and was a premier member of the Women's Chamber Ensemble. My college experience wrapped up with an internship at the Lexington Singer's Children's Choir, and student teaching at Tates Creek Elementary and Dunbar High School. In my spare time I travelled around Lexington to begin my own private studio for voice, piano, and violin.

After graduation I spent 5 years at my alma mater, Trinity Christian Academy, teaching elementary music at their PreK-6th grade campus. I also transitioned to an in-home studio for after-school hours; without the stress of running all around town, private instruction has become a passion.

I'm blessed to say that the chaos of the pandemic actually brought me clarity. I adore all of my students, and absolutely love both classroom and private instruction. So I decided to expand my studio to get the best of both! I now enjoy providing group instruction for young musicians and senior citizens, and privately instructing pianists and vocalists. Doing what I love allows me to pour that joy right back into my students. I am so thankful for those going on the journey with me!
